God is.

Some of the names of God are: Theos, Patēr in Greek, El Elyon (God Most High, in Hebrew), Param Pita (Hindi), Abba (Aramaic), Spirit (Pneuma ). Before one can talk about the goodness or greatness of God, one must first believe that God is. What is God’s nature? His attributes? How can we know that such an ineffable being exists? Without resorting to a Holy Scripture of some sort, there are evidences for God in the history of mankind, as well as in science.

Years ago I was asked to give a talk to a homeschool coalition. Of the 30 or so high schoolers in the room, one young girl made it clear that she was being raised by agnostic parents. She had listened carefully to my evidences of God from Scripture and from changed lives. But she wanted to know the evidence for God from science. I gave a quick run-down of the parameters of the Solar System that are not consistent with the purely mechanistic organizational structures and processes promoted in college and high-school classrooms. And I reviewed the various theories regarding the origin of Life on earth. I told her there was evidence for supernatural creation. And that one of the names of God was: Creator. (Please see the other post on science.)

In addition to these scientific cues, we have the New Testament of the Bible, and eyewitness accounts of divine activity in the life and words of Jesus. He usually refers to God as the Father. There is one place where he calls God “Spirit”. Since most of our lives are lived in the “ordinary” even the mundane, to call out such an invisible presence , a spiritual presence , as likely, or perceivable often takes more than the usual amount of courage or determination.

And it is the aim, the goal of these posts, of this blog, to help you with questions of this nature. We want you to know there is indeed a way to know this spiritual presence, to be absolutely sure of an availability to every faith-born person of divine guidance. To be sure of things not seen with our physical eyes.
